Private multi sport
Clapper Adventures, private only, five guests maximum
A small operator running hiking, canyoneering, biking and climbing, private to your group every time, with the tightest published group cap in Moab. Built around mixed ability parties rather than a fixed menu.
The short answer
Best for: groups where everybody wants something slightly different, and families who would rather not share a rope with strangers.
Every trip is private, canyoneering is capped at five guests, and rates are on enquiry. Minimum ages are published by route, from eight upward.
The menu
Four activities, one company
Most Moab operators do one thing well. This one covers four, which matters less for a single day out and a great deal for a week in town with a group that does not agree on anything.
Hiking
All ages
Guided walks built around the group rather than a published route list. Useful when somebody in the party wants three miles and somebody else wants nine.
Canyoneering
Capped at five
Rappelling trips private to your group, with the smallest published group cap in town. On a rope, five people and twelve people are entirely different days.
Mountain biking
Moab's other sport
Guided riding on the slickrock and singletrack the town is known for, which is a useful second day when legs are tired from walking.
Climbing
Instruction and routes
Rock climbing with instruction, which pairs naturally with canyoneering for anyone who finds they like being on a rope.
That is normal for private guiding, where the price depends on the route, the group and the season. For a sense of the market, published Moab private hiking rates run $100 to $350 per person and published private canyoneering runs $140 to $550.
Children
Minimum ages, published by route
Publishing a minimum age per canyon rather than one blanket number is more useful than it sounds, because the limiting factor changes from route to route.
| Route | Minimum age | What sets the limit |
|---|---|---|
| Bow and Arrow | 8 | Short day, small number of rappels |
| Morning Glory | 10 | Longer rappel and more walking |
| Entrajo | 12 | Water, length and a bigger commitment |
Minimum ages as published by the operator, checked September 2026. Hiking trips are open to all ages.
If your child sits close to a threshold, ring and describe them plainly rather than rounding up. Operators set these limits for good reasons and several will discuss a specific case, but a straight description gets a better answer than a hopeful one.
Fit
Who this suits
Mixed ability groups
The clearest case
One person wants a hard canyon, another wants a gentle walk, a third wants to ride. Four activities under one operator and a private format means the week can be built around all of them rather than the average.
Families
Five guests and no strangers
The tightest published cap in Moab, private by default, and minimum ages stated per route so you can plan rather than guess.
First time on a rope
A small audience
Learning to trust a rappel takes as long as it takes. Five people is a group where that is fine. Twelve is a queue.
Before you book
What to ask when you ring
- What is the rate at our group size, and what changes if somebody drops out.
- What is included. Transport, gear, park entry, meals, tax and gratuity all vary.
- How much walking is there on our date, in miles rather than in adjectives.
- How many guests are already booked, if the trip is shared.
- What is the cancellation window, and is a deposit required.
Since rates are quoted rather than published, describe the group properly on the first call: ages, fitness, anybody nervous about heights, and how many days you have. This operator plans around the group, so the more they know the better the quote and the better the day.
We do not run trips, own gear or employ guides, and no operator pays to appear here or to appear higher. Details below are from each company's own published material, checked September 2026. Full disclosure.
